Chantix Lawyers
Our Chantix lawyers are reviewing potential Chantix lawsuits. The FDA has received reports of an association between suicidal thoughts and actions and Pfiser's anti-smoking drug Chantix. The FDA has recorded incident reports of 37 suicides and 491 cases in which people had suicidal thoughts while on Chantix.
I n January, Pfizer added a warning to the label of Chantix about the potential risks of suicidal behavior and depression. This warning followed a November 2007 update to Chantix's "post-marketing experience" section which stated that there had been reports of depression, agitation, and suicidal behavior and ideation in patients on Chantix. On February 1, 2008, the concern intensified when the FDA issued a Public Health Advisory stating that "Serious neuropsychiatric symptoms have occurred in patients taking Chantix." The FDA now believes that it is "increasingly likely" that there is a causal relationship between Chantix and suicidal thought and actions.
Underscoring the obvious risks, the FAA has gone as far as to ban Chantix usage from pilots and air traffic controllers effective immediately. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration announced that the use of Chantix may adversely affect a driver's ability to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle. So a tide of information against the use of Chantix has certainly reached a critical mass.
Our Chantix lawyers are investigating a class action lawsuit on behalf of victims and their families who suffered a serious injury or death by suicide from the use of Chantix.
